form will not submit new record to database

    Hi everyone,

Have a strange error happening. I have created a form connected to an Access Database which retireves and then submits data (edits and new records)to the database. My form seems to be working fine except that it will not create a breand new record.

I can query and bring up existing records. I can edit existing records to my hearts content and then submit the changes and that works 100% fine. But I can not create then submit a brand new record. When I try to I get the following very vague error message "InforPath cannot submit the form. An error occured while the form was being submitted." and then in the "Show Details" area of teh error box it says "Unpecified error."

So I don't even know where to start to troubleshoot - espeically as submitting edits still works 100%. Heeellllppp please.

    Thanks in advance.

How are you creating the new record? Are you using the New Record button that is created when you link your form's Main DOM to the access DB?

Thank you for your quick reply.

Yes, I am using the new record button that was created when I first linked the form to the DB - I have changed its name but not its function. Here is what I would do:

    1. Click the New Record button
    2. Enter the new record data into the fields of the form
    3. Click on the submit button or the submit item on the file menu.
-- that is when the error message comes up.

Its just a bit frustrating as the form submits well when editing the data of existing records.

    Thanks

It used to work - but unfortunately I can't remember when it stopped working as I was using existing records for on the fly testing.
