Manually installation of ActiveX control for "Digital Signing"

    Hello,

I have developed an IP 2007 form in which I have to use the "digital signing" feature. Now I want to publish this form with "Infopath forms service". Now, if someone clicks the link for "digital signing" this form the first time a web page dialog appears where the user will be asked to accept the license terms and to install the appropriate ActiveX control.
Unfortunately in our company for almost every user it is not allowed for security reasons to install ActiveX controls by ourselves ... in our company the software distribution process is centralized with "NetInstall..."

Now my question: Is it basically possible to install the ActiveX control for the "digitally signing" process manually or with the help of the centralized software distribution (in this case NetInstall) and --- where can I find the installation files --- if it´s possible...

Thank you very much for any help

We are faced with the same issue.

Here is what we have done for that:

Sharepoint site is a local site and we have given permission for the local sites. This is inevitable because signing component it self an activex.

But if the useris are not local admin they can not install the two dll files so they can not use.

We have installed the dll's remotely (if I am not mistaken names of the dll's are DSigCtrl.dll and DSigRes.dll ) and it started working.

    Hi,

How did you install the DLL -s remotly? Simple  registration  or something else ?

My users have not right to install automaticly this  component via browser and after the manual registration the browser ask for the component ....so it not work for me :(

Remote dll registration is enough. You can use group policy for this

Found the fix, moved a cab file to a new folder on the server. No need to reply!

What was the fix. I have the same problem, but registering controls didn't solve the problem.

I know this thread is a bit old....but I had this issue a couple months ago.

I found the cab file on the sharepoint server, took the contents out & created my own setup file. We then deployed it with SMS.

I couldn't tell you how I did it since it was a while ago, but I still have the visual studio project folder & the finished, ready to deploy setup.exe if anyone is interested.

If you know of a place I can upload it to without having to sign up for anything let me know & I'll link it here.

Otherwise email me at: zach at squenchy dot com and i'd be happy to send the project as a zip.

I can't find the source project files anymore, but I still have the msi & setup if you still want those.

PM me your email if you still want it & i'll send it to you.

If you were wanting to compile the project yourself I can give you a place to start...

    On your sharepoint server, go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS

The file you want is dsigctrl.cab, extract the files to your desktop or whereever.

From here, I google'd tutorials on creating msi files in visual studio....i don't recall the one i specifically used, but there are quite a few out there.

As a side note, i created the package, but someone else deployed it. We used the newest version of sms (sccm 2007) to deploy & it worked fine.

Also, I think this might only be required for XP (don't know about vista)....i could open forms fine on my Win7 machine without having to install it.

ps: if you don't mind, PM me any return emails you got regarding the email address i posted above....it's my first shot @ setting up my own mail server :)

Edit: Finally got around to posting the msi on my blog: http://www.squenchy.com/post/Manually-Install-InfoPath-Digitial-Signature-Control.aspx

Ok pm'ing you now. The deployment shouldn't be an issue as I'm the SMS/SCCM Admin for our network. We are just looking for the creation :)

No user is allowed to install ActiveX control in my company.  The system admin is going to push out the Digital Signature ActiveX Controls by Group Policy.  What is the instruction to push it out by group policy?  How to remote register these dlls?
