Integrate Sharepoint list with InfoPath form

    Hello all,

I have a question about InfoPath and Sharepoint list.

I have a Sharepoint list and an InfoPath form.

Some columns in the InfoPath form are Data connected to some coulums in the Sharepoint list.

Meaning, when i open this form, i have a dropdown list that connected to the customer name column in the sharepoint list and when i add a new customer, i have it also in the dropdown list.

    so far so good.

What i am trying to reach is that when i open a new item in the sharepoint list, writing the details (customer name, number and etc') and then pressing on the "save and close" button, a workflow will run that will open the InfoPath form and put the details in the InfoPath form, where it needed.

It is a kind of Data Connection but to a certain item in the sharepoint list and not to a solid column.

If anyone has any ideas what to do, i will be very gratefull.

    Thanks in advance,

    Tal Winter

    Hi Wintert,

You should be able to accomplish this through SharePoints web services.  I have written a tutorial walking through this here: http://www.infopathdev.com/blogs/matt/archive/2006/02/02/Add-SharePoint-List-Items-with-InfoPath.aspx

More information can be found here: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms440289.aspx

    Hope this helps!

Re: Integrate Sharepoint list with InfoPath form

    Hey Matt.

It's funny how EVERYONE are catching what i said backwards :)

I want to do EXACTLY the opposite.

I want to see the List Item and from that List item (from that layout, dispform.aspx) i want a button to be pressed on and then an InfoPath form will load up and all the fields that i have in the List Item will fill up the fields in the InfoPath form.

for example, i have a list item with some fields like: customer name and etc', when i press on a button that i put on the dispform.aspx layout, InfoPath form will load up and in the "Customer name" field, it will be filled from the current list item.

I just need to find a way how to catch that List Item ID and put it there automatically.

I will be glad for any advice there is.

    Thanks,

    Tal Winter

I'm trying to do exactly the same thing.  I need to be able to open a new form, somehow passing information from a list which will auto populate certain fields.

    Is this possible?

I think this could be done by adding an additional field to your list and form.

Lets call it select_flag.  When the button is pressed it sets select_flag to true or 1 or whatever is not the default. You could also put the username in there if you were going to have lots of users so you could identify which user selected which.

Then put logic in your form that when it opens it displays or loads fields where Select_flag is True or matches the criteria. Then you could also update the SharePoint list to return the select field to default.

I have done similar setups with SQL tables and as long as you can set your fields via a button then it should be possible with SharePoint.

You just need some way to identify the row selected and a flag field usually works pretty well you just have to manage it.
