    QDABRA Instalation

Is it me or are the installation instructions odd? I get up to 2.2.2 "Sharepoint 2007" only and I loose the plot - "go to the appropriate GUID directory ? copy files that I can't find ? and go up one directory to another that doesn't exist?

    Can anyone help please?

    Cheers

    That does sound strange?

What exactly are you installing? DBXL 2.1?

Or is this one of the Webparts?

Please give us what product you are installing, and where you are installing it to, OS, Apps, etc, and we will help you get it figured out.

I'm installing DeveloperQdabraServiceSetup, downloaded yesterday with these instructions: QdabraWebService/Docs/SetupInstructions.htm#_Toc163038722

    I'm using:

    MS Server 2003

    SQL2000

    Office 2003 (infopath)

I have sharepoint services 3.0 running and I want to create templates with infopath that can call the active directory. I've seen several bits of VB that can be dropped in  the back of infopath but apparently there are concerns about making the form fully trusted?

QDABRA seems to have the answers?

    cheers

Do you have IIS installed on your server?

You should be able to run through the MSI.

You should be able to page through the setup.

Your Domains should be detected automatically, your server would be the database server.

Do you get to the end of the install?

There is an error log that can be useful if the installation does not complete.

Once you have it installed I would recomend going through the tutorials in the download area.

If you would like we can go through a quick live meeting and I can maybe help you out.

    IIS - Sure,

    What's MSI?

The install went fine, I thought.

Ok. I thought you were having trouble with the install.

At the end of the install you should have a webpage. http://servername/QdabraWebService

That page will take you to the Admin Tool. That should verify your installation was successful.

Then I would recommend the tutorials or we can go through it and I can show you what it can do and maybe help you with what you are trying to accomplish.

    The webpage cannot be found

    oops pardon the font!
Ok - looks like I screwed the installation, what's the best way to reinstall - I read somewhere that just reinstalling will fail for various reasons?

Bye the way - thanks for the support, very impressive especialy at the weekend.

Yes. DBXL web services are supported by both 2003 and 2007.

    Hi Bob,

I'm looking at the instructions that come with that package, to make sure that no revisions are needed. I'm looking at the following segment:

    SharePoint 2007 Only

    1. Copy Web Part Binaries

    a. Click on “Start” menu and then click on “Run”.
    b. Enter “Inetmgr” in the “Open” dialog box and click “OK”.
    c. Expand “Machine name (Local Computer)” and then expand “Web Sites”.
    d. Go to SharePoint (80) and click on open to go to the appropriate <GUID> directory
    e. Create a directory with the name “bin” (text between double quotes) and copy “Qdabra.Dbxl.WebParts.MyForms.dll” and the config file of “Qdabra.Dbxl.WebParts.MyForms.dll.config”
    f. Right click bin and choose Open. Keep this window open for step below.

Is this where you had problems? Can you be more specific so that I can make sure to revise our documentation? Thanks!
