Help a Newbie out:2 SQL Fields into 1

     Ok,

What I am trying to do is Create a dropdown list of Names associated with a account.

    My 3 fields are:

    FirstName

    LastName

Account (This is the common field that is being used between 2 tables to associate Company and Client)

What I know is that a dropdown list query's 1 field, so I know that I need a query to happen that takes 2 fields and combines them into 1 (FullName)

I would like when clicked (the drop downlist) to populate with firstname (John) + lastname (Smith) = fullname (John Smith) with all Clients are = Account

And I guessing that the Account field at this point would have to look at my field CompanyName and see is what Account it has.

    lol

If that make sence to you then your the person who I need to talk to.

Thanks to all that replay in advance.

If you are working with SQL both data connections would need to be queried so that they have data.  Then you qwould use a filter to find the name record which matches the company. I am not sure how you are making your selections.

This can get tough with the basic SQL support since you have two tables. Have you looked at the Database Accelerator? Qdabra Database Accelerator Suite Version 2.1 - Developer

You are on the right track. Email me if you need more indepth assistance.

SELECT     FirstName + LastName AS fullname
    FROM         Contact

I know that this is a SQL query I can run in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio's SQL Pane, and it will return what I need.  Although it returns with with alot of space between the 2.

I just need to know how to make  infopath run this sql query and have the dropdown list popluated from the fullname field, if.

In the Data Connection setup there is a Transact SQL button in the lower right when selecting the table fields. You can enter this Select Statement there.

Then you can configure your drop down to use that Data Connection.
