I have a secondary data source which consists of a table. In the table are three values; Employee Name, Employee role, and Employee Email.  I have a drop down where the form submitter selects to assign the form to an employee. I have a field that I want to contain the employee email address based on the name chosen in the drop down. I'm not very handy with Jscript. Is there a way to do this with rules?

You can do this with rules. Your rule needs to use "filters" to get the correct row from the 2DS (secondary data source).

So if you have a table with a row like ["Fred Flinstone", "Quarry Worker", "[email protected]"], your rule would look up the 2DS row where the Employee Name matched the name selected in the field that the drop-down was attached to (i.e. the filtering feature lets you do that compare) and then select the email from that row to assign to the other field.

 I'm very new to Infopath and I'm trying achieve the same result; populating a field based on another field's value. I've connected to my secondary data source, which is a table with all the user information, but I cannot figure out how to use filters to make this happen. Any tips for complete noob?
