how to import data from a sharepoint document library into a submitted form

    here is the scenario:

    1. a new form is opened by an user from a sharepoint library

    2. the user fills out the form and clicks on submit

    3. the form is published to the library. Also, a couple of fields from the form are populated into the library

    4. In addition, the library has a couple of columns e.g. status ( approved/pending ) on which a workflow works and which the workflow updates.

is it possible to retrieve the values from the library .e.g. status column value into the form AFTER the form has been submitted ?

Let's say the status column has been updated by the wf stating "approved". I want the form after being submitted to reflect this value. So if someone opens the form, he/she will see a control showing "approved" or "rejected" value.

I played w/ refresh control, but that didn't work. I cannot use update control because my sharepoint version doesn't allow for the use of web forms.

( obviously i created a secondary data connection to the status column but the control displays only the values that are present just before the form is submitted. but not after the form is submitted.)

    Hi

Your problem is that the form is not re-saved to the form library after approval so unless you get SharePoint to set the value in the form without opening it your approver would have to open the form to approve and then re-submit back to the form library to effect the change.

    I hope this helps you

    Cheers
