    Access DB Primary Data connection

This is probably a question with a simple answer but I can't seem to find info on it.

    Background:
I have created an InfoPath form with an Access DB as the primary data connection in order to query AND submit data to the DB. I have created it on my PC in location A (my work office) and it works fine. Tomorrow I need to move/copy and publish it to my clients' network in location B (on the other side of town).

    Question:
In order for the form to connect to the Access Db I designated as the primary data source is it sufficent to just add the Access DB file (example.mdb) to the Resource Files via the Tools menu? or do I need to save the .mdb file on the clients' network and code something in the schema?

Any help would be gratefully received.

    Thanks,

    Jay

As an add on question - whatever the answer for the above is - would it apply to MS SQL too?

    Hello CaptainAi
    Welcome to Infopathdev Forums.

Yes You need to Save the .mdb file on to the clients Network. Its not sufficient if you just save it in the Resource files because the path will be different.

Also take a look at the Link below which gives information on connecting an Infopath form to Access DB

    Hi drgkreddy,

Thank you for your reply. Once I have saved the .mdb file on the clients network - how do I tell the InfoPath form where to find the DB? I.E. I have all the fields, formatting and rules already created in the form template - only it is on my PC - I don't have to recreate the form template from scratch on the clients network do I?

    Thanks

    Hello CaptainAi,

No You need not recreate everything on the Clients Network. You can modify your Dataconnection by pointing it to New database(On Clients Machine)
Select from Tools-> DataConnections->Select the Dataconnection-> Click on Modify. Then Follow the instructions there on.

Thank you very much. I tried your suggestion and it works! Seems so simple I should have figured it out - I guess thats why I am a newbie! lol.

    Thanks again
