    Printing problems

    Hi

One of my forms (Infopath 2003 SP1) has just recently developed a print problem. When the print button is pressed the following message is displayed.

"Infopath cannot print form. Either you do not have any printers installed or the current printer is unavailable. Choose another printer or install a new one".

If I choose File > Print a different message is displayed.

    "The parameter is incorrect"

All printers are functioning/installed correctly. I can print by first using the print preview (button or drop-down) then print from the print preview.

Any ideas? The form was working fine last week.

     Thanks

     Gary

That was my first thought. According to our ICT people they have not changed anything. I have done some more testing on one of the forms. It has 23 views but only 5 of them display the printing error. The remainder are OK.

     Frustrated!

Wow a form with 23 views is it not a little slow?

Any way, the fact that 18 views print correctly I would expect that the view settings are causing you the problem check the properties of the view to see if they are outside of printable areas?

    Cheers

Ran into this issue just today and it turned out to be that the form itself had a network printer defined in it (instead of just Default Printer) and that printer's share name changed. Setting it back to "Default Printer" in the form itself fixed the problem. Hope this helps someone else!

Hi, Just wanted to say a big thanks for posting the fix. I ran across the same issue and your solution was spot on - remove the customised printer from the view configuration. Is there any way to check and/or adjust this from the InfoPath API? I'm automating InfoPath externally to convert XSN+XML files into PDFs. I'm sending the print jobs to the default printer on the system, which is a "save to disk" PDF printer. I then monitor for the PDF to arrive and grab it once the print job is finished. Being able to check things are OK before trying to print would be really handy. The PDF export functionality in InfoPath mostly works but the formatting, unfortunately, is terrible compared to printed output redirected through a PDF printer.
