    Scrap that

Any template that I configure, whilst logged in as administrator, to be part of DBXL using DAT configuration cannot then be re-designed by the administrator saynig that the form is in use and only a read-only version can be opened.

Would this be mean that natively the Adminstrator doesn't have rights over DBXL or is some other problem going on here.

    Cheers

It sounds like you are using the 'Open' on the attached XSN in DAT.

Download the template locally, edit the local copy and then upload the template using DAT.

    Hi Jim

Trying to open the form in design mode from the Qdabra http:// address says it is in use and has to be read-only.  So is the only way to design a form once it is uploaded is to design the form and overwrite the Qdabra one with the one with changes.

I was trying to follow the installation notes as below and it says I (Administrator) do not have permissions to make changes to this document, do I want to open a read-only copy.

    These are the notes

    1.       Open your form template from DBXL.

    a.       Start InfoPath.

    b.      Click Design a Form Template in the left task pane.

    c.       Click on My Computer … in the left task pane.

    d.      Enter the URL to your newly created form.
e.g. http://<server>/QdabraWebService/forms/ExpenseReport2/template.xsn, where <server> is replaced with the name of your machine.

    e.      Click Open,

    f.        ExpenseReport2 should open in the Designer.

I am having the problems with steps e. and f. as it will not let me open it in design mode.

Your help so far is much appreciated

    Thanks

    That scenario should work.

Are you attempting to open the url from the same machine running DBXL or a separate client?  And what OS are you running on the client and server?

In IIS manager, look under 'Web Service Extensions' and check if WebDAV is allowed or prohibited.  Toggle the setting and try editing the form template again.

    Jim

Unfortunately I am only running IIS 5.1 hence there are no 'Web Service Extensions' to check.  I thought I would do a quick check back through the event log and found the following

Error installing app pool for virtual directory QdabraWebService

I am going to try a re-install to see if that helps

    OK

Trying to Repair the Install I get the following warning

Count cannot be less than zero.  Parameter name 'count'

    The repair then rolls back

Looking again through the Qdabra repair log, the 'app pool' is not being created.  Sorry t obe such a bother but do you ahve any ideas?

Many thanks for all your help so far

    Hi Adam,

What version of .NET do you have installed on that machine?

The error about the App pool can be ignored, as IIS 5.1 does not support application pools.

Under \inetpub\wwwroot\QdabraWebService\install\, you should find a file named Qdabra.DBXL.Install.InstallState.

Please email this file to [email protected]

Re: Permissions when folllowing getting started guide

I have sent you an updated installstate file from a working XP Professional install modified slightly to reflect your machinename.  This should allow you to avoid the error you are seeing and run the uninstall.

Please follow the below steps:1) View the IIS properties for QdabraWebService.  Make sure the ASP.NET version indicates 2.0.507272) Make sure that the 'Application Protection' is set to 'High (Isolated)' on the Virtual Directory tab.3) Try uninstalling DBXL4) If uninstall fails, copy the attached Qdabra.DBXL.Installer.InstallState file over the existing one (backup your copy first) under /QdabraWebService/install/

    5) Try to uninstall again
