The format of the file 'myInfoPathApplication.dll'

    Hi.

I have a form using some managed code, created with InfoPath 2003
    Toolkit for Visual Studio 2005.

When I try to compile, It open the form without issue.
    I receives the error:

InfoPath cannot open the selected form because of an error in the
form's code. The format of the file 'myInfoPathApplication.dll' is invalid.

I uninstalled Visual Studio 2003 and 2005. I installed Office 2003 SP2, Visual Studio 2005, infoPath tool for visual studio 2005 and repair Framework 2.

    Thanks for you help.

    Two things:

    1. As I understand it VS2005 requires .NET 2
    2. Make sure that there's not an infopath.exe.config file in the same folder as infopath.exe. If so, rename it.

I'm almost certain that this is because there is problem with the installation of the .NET framework. Maybe you should try uninstalling and reinstalling that.

Yeah I had that error until I installed .net framework 2

If you already have .net 2 installed then uninstall it and reinstall it like Matt suggested

I would download a fresh copy of .net 2 from microsoft, there have been lots of beta's being passed around which dont work with final version of vs2005

I installed .Net Framework 2.0 on a VM. This is a clean installed VM. THis now works fine ! Thanks for all the tips.

I also got this same type of error after installing InfoPath 2007 Beta2. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling framework 2.0 but could not shake this error message until I uninstalled Office2007 B2. So much for getting ahead of the game :).
