After submitting form, hide submit button and have a button to save changes?

    Hi,

I have a browser enabled form saving info from fields in a sharepoint library in various columns.

After the form is filled out and submitted, someone needs to check the form, and may want to make changes. The save option on the toolbar works for this, but I want to be able to HIDE the submit button when the form is submitted and hide the save button when the form HASNT been submitted.. so this rules out using the toolbar.

I see you can add a button from the controls and assign a submit action to it, to do the submit (and then I could hide this one on a 'submitted' view) But I cant seem to add a save action to buttons..but for this view and hiding buttons solution to work I need one :)

How do you do this? I just need another button that will update/save any changes the user makes when viewing the form

Hope that made sense. Thanks for any help!

    Hi

I think I can find a way around this, firstly change the sumbit button to run on rules and code and add a rule to set a fields value to say HIDE.  Then go into the conditional formatting of the button to say Hide if your field says HIDE.  That is the first job done.

Second job is to create another button called "Close and Save" on this button set it to use rules and custom code then select the rule as close and leave the tick box (Prompt the user to save if changes have been made) ticked that way it closes the form and asks the user to save or cancel.  You can also write code for this but you would have to make the form full-trust to enable.

    I hope this helps

Hi, that would be awesome, except the tick box saying prompt user to save is greyed out and is unsupported- presmably because its a browser enabled form.

That seems really naff, since you can do the initial save and you can get a save button on the toolbar all the time so why not a button you can sometimes hide?!

Is there any other way? thanks for your help :)

    OK

forgot it was browser enabled, sorry.  As this is a browser enabled form you are not allowed to use code either so you are kind of stuck with it.

The save on the toolbar is part of the local install of Infopath and not part of the form so it can be clicked at any time, on the form itself you would have to make it fully trusted too, which also is not allowed in a browser-based form.

Looks like your are in a lose-lose situation, sorry

Blah. Browser enabled forms seem to lose out on a lot of features, but unfortunately can't not have them browser enabled as not everyone that will use them has office 2007. Never mind! Thanks for your help :)

I need to create a submit button on form but once the form is submitted to my SharePoint Library and it is opened up by staff I want the submit button to be disabled or disappear.  How do I do this simply?  Very frustrated with what I can find on internet as answers hoping you can help.

Create a new field, not visible on the form - I always use a group I create called formAdmin Call the form something like initialSubmit When the user clicks submit, have the first action be to set this fields value to Yes You can then apply a rule to this button to hide if initialSubmit = yes, and it won't be visible anymore after the form is first submitted

See the attached sample. Right click the link in the post heading and select save target to save locally. Right click the locally saved file and select Design to open in design mode - from there you can preview.
