    DBXL Installation Trouble

Hi Got all the way to about 98% install on my XP Home machine with IIS 6, SQL Express and some patience. Only problem is that it stops with the following error and rolls back Error Intializing DBXL database. --> Client found response content type of 'text/html' but expected 'text/xml' The request failed with the error message: --¦¦Error The specified module could not be found Need to get this installed so if anyone can offer me any ideas I would be most grateful Thanks

Hey Adam.  Thanks for all the great work in the forum.

This should take care of it.

If you do not get .Net in the right order it needs to be reset.

How did you manage to get IIS 6 on a Windows XP machine? AFAIK, Windows XP only runs IIS 5...

Also, DBXL requires Windows XP Professional and cannot be installed on Windows XP Home edition.

Hi Clay Now get all the way to about 98% install on my XP Home machine with IIS 5 (I stand corrected), SQL Express and some patience. Only problem is that it stops with the following error and rolls back Error Intializing DBXL database. --> Client found response content type of 'text/html; charset=UTF-8' but expected 'text/xml' I am a step closer but still 1.8% to go :-). As per the hyperlink i ran the asp_iisreg.exe -i succesffully but now get this different error. Do i need to uninstall .NET V2 and re-sintall it? Many thanks

    Re: DBXL Installation Trouble

    You could try that.

You are using the Network Service?

    Is the Database getting installed?

    Is the AppPool getting created?

Some of these you can check before you finish the install and the rollback occurs.

Have you verified IIS is serving webpages?

If you are using XP Home than you are using a hack to get IIS to run, not sure if that may cause some additional issues or not.

The error usually has to do with IIS and .Net.

.Net 3.0 should be fine to try as well.

Please check the Qdabra eventlog and post the content of any error messages.

    Thanks,

    Jim

    Re: DBXL Installation Trouble

The referenced kb article in the IIS error suggests using aspnet_regiis -ga <WindowsUserAccount>.  Where WindowsUserAccount is the account running, which should be ASPNET in your case.

Hi I think so as there is only one account on this machine and that has full administritive rights or am I not clear on something? Thanks

Unable to connect to the remote server For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. More detail: The target actively refused the connection. so getting closer but am unsure as to how to fix this one, have you any ideas? Many thanks

    Re: DBXL Installation Trouble

You will need to give the ASPNET account permissions to the DBXL database.  Give the ASPNET account sysadmin permission.  This assumes the database is on the local machine.
