Sign a section: Remove digital signature link

Hi I have developed a form with InfoPath 2003 SP1 and published it on Sharepoint 2003. To remove the link "Click here to sign this section" under a section, I have extracted the files, removed the link in the View.xsl and then republished the form on SharePoint. As I filled out forms, all was ok: the link wasn't displayed anymore. Afterwards I have need to modify my form-template for other purpose. I opened the template from the SharePoint and I saved/republished it. As I fill out new forms, the link appears again! It seems, that the file "View.xsl" has been replaced through the standard one. Can anybody explain to me, what's happend. Do I make a mistake? Thanks a lot for your help. Best regards. Philippe

    Hi Philippe,

     ... no, you didn´t made a mistake ... ;-))

This is "...behaviour by design..." in Microsoft words. I have observed the same behaviour like you but I haven´t found a solution by now. Every time when you publish the form the 'view.xsl' will be replaced through the standard one.
Some time ago I have emailed with a program manager for infopath with Microsoft in this case --- but even this person don´t have a solution for this behaviour...

    Regards,
    Karsten

Hi Karsten Thank you very much for your reply. It 's a pity, but now clear for me. I hope that Microsoft will have a solution as soon as possible.

Users are not meant to modify view.xsl by hand - it is very easy to break the solution or render the view incompatible with the InfoPath Designer.

Having said that, if you want to make a modification to the view and you want to absolutely make sure it does not ever get changed, use the xd:preserve keyword. This is a pretty advanced topic so use this approach at your own risk. Here is one link about it: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827009 (but try searching the web for more examples).
