Trouble with Connecting to an Excel Worksheet

I have been playing with Infopath for a couple of weeks now. I am pretty familiar with how to get the form set up. I have a nice template that has everything I want on it. I am having some trouble getting the Excel document and the Infopath form to talk to eachother. I "think" I have it set up correctly, but when I click submit, I get no response from the Excel document. I have no idea how to set up the Worksheet to make it "compatible?". I created a blank xml file with Excel and pointed the Infopath form to it. Is that the correct way to get it started?

Hi Kodec and welcome to the forum.

So you are trying to modify information in a spreadsheet? Pull data and save it back?

Or are you trying to export from a view to Excel via the toolbars?

You can import from Excel in a couple different ways but it is typically one directional. I do not think there is any way to submit back to a spreadsheet.  Other than the stock export to Excel which dumps the data into Excel by user request.

Give me more information on what you are trying to do and I can maybe help.

Re: Trouble with Connecting to an Excel Worksheet

Hello Clay and thanks for the reply. I am trying to save the information in my Infopath form into an Excel spreadsheet to track all of my transactions. I have lots of transactions that lots of different people do. When the job is completed they will insert their name, item moved, to what location, and so on. I am trying to have all that information logged into the spreadsheet. After the information is there and the info has been submitted, I want the form to clear and then be able to do the process all over again and keep a constant log of all the transactions. Exporting doesnt seem to do the trick because it shows the controls name in each block of the spreadsheet instead of the information inputted. If you have some good info it would be much appreciated. I am tearing my hair out here. Thanks!
