    Email Submit query

    Hi,

Having an issue whereby the form has a specific view that is designed to be sent to a supplier and therefore has some information removed.

At the bottom is a submit button allowing the user to press it and this viw is sent as an attachment to predefined email addresses.

All works fine except the main body of the email is populated with the default view and when printed the right view has been attached (formatted for printing with page breaks etc).

I am at a loss to know why this is happening -  in the data connection the fields the send form data as an attachment is selected and the email attachments options in form options are blank.

I have tried all sorts of combinations but can not get the form to send as an attachment only - any ideas?

The security level is set to Domain by the way.

    Thanks

    Carl

    Hello

This is happening because the view that is shown in the body is set as the Default view. To shift to the view that has to be shown in the Email, Set a rule on the button to switch to the view when the button is clicked

    Hi Kalyan,

Thanks for the prompt reply however here's the scenario I find myself in (your tip worked a treat by the way).

I need form for to email a special view to a single supplier as an attachment that do not have infopath they only have a browser and mail client (outlook 2000).

What happens is the form is sent to the address but as an xml attachment only they can not use it and the body of the form in the email itself does not use page breaks that are inserted.

If the email could be printed at the other end without the contact information (sender/subject etc) I could have a work around by adjjusting the page breaks to suit for form?

Also what should the security level be for attachments it seems conflicting?

    cheers

    Carl

    Hi

Worth having your supplier have a look at Forms Viewer from Qdabra would allow them to open the form in IE that way negating the need for the mail to display the message when they can open the attachment instead.

    Hope this helps

It would be except our suppliers ban the installation of 3rd party products on their machines I can not even do a small msi install for them (BTW theres about 50 different suppliers).

    Hi

    OK I undertand the limitations.

I have done some research and found a BRILLIANT solution for you.  Using Infopath 2003 you can go into form options and firstly enable "export to web" function you can find out more about this here:

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/infopath/HP010967451033.aspx

Enabling this creates an .mht file an exact copy of your current view as a read-only file that is viewed through IE.  Send this file as an attachment that they can open through IE and print.  The view matches exactly the view you are on at the time of export so could include all the formatting.  It does not have any sender information when printed AND it does not require the install of any other product.

Downside is that the process is a bit more manual.  You could through some effort find a way to code the export to web function, save the result locally, and open an outlook window with the .mht file already attached so your user jsut has to click 'Send' to mail the file.

Coding is not my thing but in the mean time this provides you with a useful solution to clumsily satisfy the remit.

    I hope this helps

     Thanks Adam, nice work.

I'll have a look at the link and let you know if I go down this route. Looking at a secure access scenario to a mirror of our sharepoint site that way the manager of the department using the service and authorise user that "drop work" on the server and they can be approved and transferred to the real sharepoint site.

This is a weird scenario whereby suppliers all have a different set of rules to abide from at their end.....oh well.

    Cheers,

    Carl

    Hi again

Mirror solution is more elegant but lot more to manage.  Whichever way you go best of luck
