    Form email Problem

I'm sure there is an easy explanation for my problem. We have just changed our business over from Office 97 to Office 2003, in Office 97 for 7 years we used a simple Outlook form to send information to the manager who then would either send the form on to another department, or click a button to send the data to an Access 97 Database.

Now, with InfoPath, I have tried to design the same form. However, everytime I send a form via email the form ends up at the Manager as an xml coded, no form?

I can't find any documentation to help me here, and it has been very frustrating. What am I doing wrong? I need to have this set up soon, so all our staff have access to the form to send to the Manager. Thanks

Hi Ptrudell and welcome to the forum!

There have been several posts about this topic and there is even a HowTo on our webiste. Check out this post first:http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2500 and if you need some more help use the search box in the top right corner to look for the phrase "email form".

Thanks, but that does not address my problem. I know how to design the form and to create two buttons, one to send the form to the Manager, and one so the Manager can submit the form data to the Database. But, that's not what arrives to the Manager, in her e-mail. When I open the published form to fill-it-out, all is good. I fill in the form, and click the send button.... off it goes to the Manager.

When she gets the e-mail message and small icon is in the e-mail window, when she clicks on it, a windows open with xml code-- that is all. NO FORM. She never gets to view the form or send it to the database.

If, I select send as attachment... she gets the form in the window, BUT NO BUTTONS.

This has been going on for a week.. We all have InfoPath 2003, sp1 on our PC's in the office, and all have access to the Published site.

    There's my problem. Thanks

    Ptrudell,

Quick question on this: are you using any views on the form? And it sounds like you are using a custom task pane to create the submit buttons? It almost sounds like an issue with those buttons. I assume you have verified that the form data is being written to the database correctly?

Yes one button is simple send vis e-mail to a specific person, the second button uses Add Record function and I have tested it and it does post a new record to the Database. The View is a Default View. [view 1]

Check the XML file that the manager received and see if it contains the InfoPath processing-instructions at the top of the file. It sounds like those are getting stripped out for some reason.
