I could not offer advice for how to do this in infopath, but I do know that AJAX is something that would help you. AJAX stands for Asynchronous Javascript and XML.
It is not a language in itself but a methodology of using Javascript and XML dynamically to load information from datasources onto webpages without having to load/reload the whole page. This might be a good way to view your info from your excel file, but I am sorry I could not tell you exactly how to do this, I am not a programmer.
