    InfoPath setup

Hi, I have a few newbie questions. My team wants to setup InfoPath for evaluation purpose, the requirement are; a interface for the Form designer, web based form for internal site, email or pdf based form on outlook. Can someone provide some answer?

    1. Is sharepoint server required? Is form server satisfy our need?
    2. What are the differents between sharepoint server and form server?

    Thanks

    Eric

Forms Server is just the InfoPath form server functionality.  It runs on top of MOSS 2007.

    Hi Eric.

SharePoint is not required for InfoPath but from an enterprise, best practice standpoint you typically want a client server setup and have a central repository for your documents or some central control or process which governs their use and movement.

I would recommend you investigate the Database Accelerator Web Services Suite.  It can provide what you are looking for, including the ability to have infoPath forms in a browser for a fraction of the cost.  It also provides a platform for enterprise electronic document solutions.
