populate combobox/dropdownlist box w/ SQL data

hi. i have search the forum about the topic above, but i can't find my answer.

i'm trying to populate a combobox with SQL data using odbc connection.and  using windows authentification in the odc file

i can retrieve the data in the design mode but when i preview it, infopath encountered an error.

if i save it and open the form again, there is a message box saying that  "one or more data connection that are required for this form are unavailable etc"

and if i expand the detail it shows

The query cannot be run for the following DataObject: MS_Reader
InfoPath cannot run the specified query.
InfoPath cannot connect to the data source.
    Access is denied.
    Access is denied.

i want to retrieve new data from SQL table whenever the form is opened or called.

also i'm facing the same problem on the drop down list box.

(i want to compare ordinary infopath form and browser enabled form, but combo box is unavailable n the browser enabled form)

    thanks in advance.

I would check your permissoins on the SQL box first off. Ideally you can grant your self heightened permissions and get it working and then begin removing premissions back to normal and find what you need.

Then I would also check that the server name is in your trusted sites or intranet zone in Internet Explorer.  Data Connections look to IE for trust and this could be affecting you too.

    sorry for double posting.

but the problem still exists when i open the form on a browser, do i have to store the odc file on sharepoint server?

I haven't worked with browser enabled forms yet but my first idea would be that you check if Integrated Windows Authentication is check in your Browser Option. The second thing I would do is to actually store your SQL select statement as a stored procedure to your database. Like this you need to grant only execute permissions to the usp for each user and don't need to grant them access to the complete database.

one thing i forgot to mention. in your dataconnection sql statement you then dont use the complete sql qurey but only call "exec nameOfYourStoredProcedure"

    i am using IE

where can i find  Integrated Windows Authentication?

on the internet option, i have set intranet security to low, and privacy lwvel to low. but it seems i cant find that option.

for the second thing, i can run query from auery analyzer to that database but i can't get the form working.

yes under tool, internet option, advanced tab - it's one of the last check boxes "Enable Windows Integreated Authentication"
