    Lot of questions I've been saving up!

    Hey everybody, I a newbie to Infopath but I don't feel like it as I've been working with it for months now (version 2003 w/service pack). I've been tasked with creating some fairly complex bidding/order/invoicing forms (technically a single form with multi-views). I set it up standalone in Infopath with no data connections just fine but now that it's all laid out I have to move it over to using a MS Access database. I've done that and gotten pretty far but I've got lots of problems.

     Problem 1: I can no longer attach a file or a picture. I tried using OLE object in Access but infopath kept giving me errors. Is this an Infopath/Access limitation?

    Problem 2: I have repeating tables that I use for Line items which transfer from the Bid sheet to the Order sheet and finally to the Invoice Sheet ( they all load from the same Field) but when I put in my calculations, my columns won't sum. It only pulls the data from the first entry of the repeating table.

    Problem 3: about said Repeating tables. I obviously want the user to be able to enter a new line item but I also have specific sections on the Order sheet(s) that are repeating so they can add multiple "details" to the whole thing. The problem comes from the nature of binding repeating objects to a Datasource or Group. Because I am only using one main data connection, a single database, it basically only gives me the option of binding to the whole thing, no matter what is actually going in that specific repeating section. So when I add extra items to the Line items section, it also adds extra Details sections of which won't fit on a page and are unecessary most of the time.

    I know I'm asking a lot here, but any kind of help you guys could give me would be great. I'm pulling my hair out here.

    Thanks

    Re: Lot of questions I've been saving up!

    Welcome.

    You are experiencing what many of us have, in creating intricate, enterprise solutions as database forms to Access data.  The limitations in InfoPath database forms will catch up with you eventually.

    I would recomend you download the Database Accelerator Web Service Suite.Qdabra Database Accelerator Suite Version 2.0 - Developer

    It gives you web services which are much more flexible and powerful for data interaction.  I have had solutions with multiple repeating tables and large attachments.

    It gives you security, control, and a bunch of features such as Active Directory integration. it makes you life much easier by making the development much easier.

    If you would like to see a similar Project Management solution built with infoPath and Database Accelerator just let me know.

    Ok. I'm not really a developer, I've just been tasked with this job. I'm not sure I'm really interested in learning yet another new program/codeset, can you give me any other info on this Qdabra thing or can anyone help me within the confines of Infopath and Access?

    For Problem 1, you must have a attachment control on the main DOM.

    For file attachments to work in InfoPath, you should see the following processing instruction near the top of the xml.

    <?mso-infoPath-file-attachment-present?>
