    Pre-Populate Text Boxes

    Hi there-

I'm needing some help on calling/linking my text boxes on my form to pull data from my external excel file I've imported into Access.
The form consists of sales reps data i.e. sales figures. I have it set up by selecting their id#. Once that is selected, I want the following text boxes to populate i.e. ytd sales, ly sales, etc.

Is there a way that I can set my form up that once a user selects the sales rep id# the following text fields will pull the corresponding data with that rep?

    Thanks,
    Sharon

Hi sharann and welcome to the InfoPathDev forums!

You can do this and Matt Faus has written an excellent "How To" that should get you started in the right direction:

Hope that helps and good luck,

    Hi Ted,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

It's funny you mentioned that example because I did use Matt Faus's example (which was awesome) but I have 85 sales reps and their sales numbers change each month. I know it would take a while to set up each rep in the code but the real problem was that their sales numbers would change each month.....I didn't know if there was an easier way to program this or set up.

    sharann,

How exactly are you using this form? It sounds like you have an excel file that is being generated monthly (by you?) that you import into Access and then create the InfoPath form from there? How do the sales figures get into Excel?

Have you thought about having InfoPath collect the sales results and submitting into an Access databse from the start? That way, rather than importing the Excel into Access, you have dynamic sales results that you can use your InfoPath forms with.

Just kind of thinking out loud here. If you post back with more details on the workflow and how you are using the form perhaps I can help with other ideas.
