    calculation2

    Hello everybody ,

    I'm a dummies with infopath (also english),
    on my work is infopath installed but not with the function
    to create a new form.
    I use one of the sample form and reform him.

    I use the "absence request" form.
    tis is the same wat i need to work,

    I change all the name of string and recall the binding.
    the calculation was no prob's ( i have experience with exell)

    Only with the repeating table when i need to calculate the
    sum of a different naam .

    i use a drop down list box at the first column with a few name,
    in a secondary column are the numbers
    It's a repeating table and can insert row below or above.
    if i work like tis

    for sample;

    dropdown..........column 2
    name1 .............24
    name2 .............10
    name3 ..............2
    name1 ..............24
    name2 ..............10
    name3 ...............2

    i can all of this name sum and average ...

    into a optional section , i need to sum the number only with the name

    sample ;

    name1 (is now equal to ) 48
    name2 (is now equal to ) 20
    name3 ( is now equal to) 4

    now is my realy question ...

    wat is the formule to do tis

    thank you very mutch to help me
    (i hope that my english understandable is)

    bye bye

    Hi Marcellino,

    Welcome to the forum. Are you trying to multiply the values from your drop down list and display them in your optional section? Forgive me if I didn't understand you correctly.

    You can look at the code in the Absence Request sample
    1. Tools -> Programming ->Microsoft Script Editor
    2. The updateLeaveBalance() is called to calculate the value.

    Hope this helps you!

    hi stephanie ,

    i find this following text above the texteditor

    ""// The following line is created by Microsoft Office InfoPath to define the
    // prefixes for all the known namespaces in the main XML data file.
    // Any modification to the form files made outside of InfoPath
    // will not be autmatically updated."""

    thats maybe the cause that my changing does not working

    "i did wrong "

    i dont give up !

    bye bye

    my english is poor..sorry

    i did my calculation before with exel..
    here the formule

    sumif(a1:a5;"name";b1:b5)

    if a 1 case or more between "a1" and "a5" are called "naam"

    one case named "total" sum the column "b1 to b5 "

    Hi Marcellino,

    I got your email and I think I understand what you are trying to accomplish. However, not having enough information, I can not tell why your code is not working. Maybe you can rename your source file and resend it.
