    Screen Refresh/Flicker

I have a repeating table with about 40 rows getting default values automatically populated from the xml file. When I start adding data to the columns there is quite a bit of action on the screen as the subtotal calculations occur in the footer of the table. Is there any way to control this?

Try to track down the source of the problem. Make a copy of your form, and then working with the copy, remove items one-by-one until the flickering stops.

Then, starting with another fresh copy of your form, try removing just the offending items. If the flickering stops again, then you need to figure out why those items are causing the problem. If not, then you need to continue to try to locate what combination of things could be causing the flickering.

Also, for a sanity check, make sure that not all other forms with repeating tables flicker. If they all do, check your video drivers.

Also -- one other thing, if you have a background graphic, try removing that.

It is also possible that there are so many fields with default values calculating and updating that the view is having to do a lot of repainting. How many columns do you have in the table and how many of the fields are calculated?

I have 6 columns, 4 are entry: current hours , current dollars, proposed hours, proposed dollars, and 2 are calculated (total hours and total dollars). There are subtotals at the bottom of each column, additional calculations below the subtotals that multiply the subtotals by markup factors.

Calculated fields can (under certain circumstances) slow things down... but typically not substantially. How many rows are there of this 6 column table?
