I'm making changes to the Expense Report template that comes with Infopath 2007. The employee department is being filled automatically with Sharepoint User information.
In the expense items repeating table, I have added a column for the department field, but have defined it as a new field called RC. RC has the default value set = to the "Department" field. The user can change the RC to a new number. After the form is submitted to a Sharepoint site, it is then opened from the Sharepoint site by the manager for approval - the managers form is a different view. The RC that the user changed has defaulted back to the department number from the employee section, instead of retaining what the user typed in.
Why is this? What am I not understanding about default values and Infopath? It seems like what the user types in should be stored in the field, so it should not be resetting to the default value when the manager opens the form. Actually, I believe the RC resets to the default value even if the user reopens the form.
Thanks!
