    Which language!?

Ok.. I'm finding this very frustrating!

I started out using jscript in my infopath form but have had soo many nightmares with date calculations that I switched to VBScript. I know VBScript much more and got the date stuff working but then couldn't get it to programmatically insert another row in a repeating section. No idea why, just won't let me select the section in the same I would in jscript. See other posts..

So depending on where I go and what I'm trying to do I'm being told to use JS, or VBS or something entirely different like C#. I've never used C# so I don't know if it's anything like either of the other 2.

The form isn't particularly complicated but I just would like to know once and for all which would be the best code to use to allow me to do everything I need. Including very simply getting the difference between 2 dates which for some reason is ridiculously complex in infopath!

Can anyone point me in the right direction here so I can actually move forward and not just sideways.. I post quite a few times on here and rarely get a reply whether that's unwillingness to show or not knowing the answer I've no idea but I hope someone can help me now.

    Hi edove,

Well, if you plan to continue adding code, I would suggest moving to C# with VS2005.  It is simply blissful to program in this environment.  You got IntelliSense and all the other awesome features of Visual Studio.  Plus, C# is generally the accepted "Best Practice" language when adding code behind InfoPath (or any other Office product, I believe).

I have seen your other posts and unfortunately I have never really done VBScript so I cannot see what is the problem immediately, and would have to research it, but I figure you can do that! :)

Good luck, and be sure to check out our Resources page to get you started with the VSTO and everything else you need to start using C#.

PS - Date calculations are generally not very easy, regardless of the language.

    Hi Matt,

Somehow I knew you'd say that but I was hoping you wouldn't. I'm just finding it frustrating because I can't learn what I want quick enough! And resources for 2007 seem to be non-existent. They haven't even released books yet. And I don't know anything about C#, is it anything at all like VB or JS? I'm from a domino background and spent 7 years programming in LotusScript now I've converted to MS and not only is the technology new I need to learn a new language too and I'm trying to do it all "on the job". Nightmare.

Ok I've have removed the code in my form and set it up to take C# and I'll try and rewrite the functions. There weren't many but I'm on a time constraint to get this out.

p.s. What is it with the dates.. people complain about Lotus Notes but it never had any problem deducting 2 dates from one another!
