    Error opening a mailed form

I got the following error when trying to open an info path form:
this form can not be opened because it request domain security level and is only allowed restricted security level.
    What am I missing?

    Best Regards

    Hi Drojas

What is the security settings that u have given ur form?

Change it to domain or Full Trust depending on ur needs.

Some information regarding the different security settings are given below

•Restricted- Corresponds to Internet Explorer#%92s Restricted sites zone (high security). The form cannot access resources that are external to the form, such as Active X controls. Users can open and save forms but the script code cannot access the file system or other computer resources. The restricted model prevents use of custom task panes, data connections (except submission by email), managed code (VB.NET or C#) and roles.

•Domain- Corresponds to Internet Explorer#%92s Local Intranet Zone (medium low security) or forms running on the local computer during development. Forms can access databases and web services within a single domain. For example –forms running in the local oakleaf.org domain cannot access web services provided by a server in the public oakleaf.ws domain. Templates deployed to server shares on a local area network are considered to be in the same domain. ActiveX Controls, custom task panes, roles, managed code are enabled. This model is the most common security scenario for Published InfoPath forms.

    • Full Trust- Corresponds to Internet Explorer's Trusted sites zones.(low security). These forms permit cross domain data access, permit running ActiveX controls that aren't marked safe for scripting, provide added managed code flexibility, and eliminate some security level prompts we receive at the domain security level. But we must sign the form with a code signing certificate or deploy the fully trusted forms to user's computers. By default InfoPath analyses our form and its programming code to automatically assign the most restrictive security model. However we can over ride this automatic security model assignment.

    Regards,
    Abhishek

To view the security settings go to the menu Tools::Form Options and then select the Security tab.

Then, since you are trying to send it in email that forces restricted security because email is inherently insecure. If you have any external data connections in the form for example, they require at least domain security which is why you'd get this error.

Re: Error opening a mailed form

OK, I've read this thread, and am experiencing the same problem w/email recipient who receives this message when I sent him my Infopath form to view and use:

MICROSOFT OFFICE InfoPath INSUFFICIENT SECURITY PRIVILEGE

This form cannot be opened because it requests domain security level and is only allowed restricted security level.  Based on the information in the form, the file should be located at file:///C:\Documents%20and%20Settings\jnlehosky\Desktop\Affidavit%20Template%20Mar30-2009.xsn in order to open with the correct security level.

However, your reply doesn't provide a solution.  Or atleast I can't decipher one from what you have written Shiraz.  Would you mind elaborating on the correct way to fix this?  Where do I go in Infopath, or my internet settings, huh?  Can I fix my existing form, or do I have to create a new one making sure to have the appropriate "levels"?

So confused, with no place to get un-confused...sigh.   Thanks in advance -Carole
