InfoPath Dev

Hi,
   I got this error from infopath 2007 "cannot open the selected form."

This is what I do:

1) Open Infopath 2007
2) from menù: File -> "Design form template..."
3) I select "Base on Blank"
4) From the blank form I do not insert anything
5) I push the "Preview" button
6) Dialog Errore: "cannot open the selected form."

any idea?
I'm lost...help!

Well, let's see if i have this correct.

You have a completely blank/Empty/plain form in design mode that you want to preview?

If I am correct, then my first question is; Why would you want to look at a form that is completely blank in Design and Preview?

To explain, the design mode, bizarrely, is where you make changes to the form from a functional point of view or design it.  The preview is where you act as a user of the form to iron out bugs etc.

This may just be a common sense thing that says you cannot preview a blank form as there is nothing to preview.

PS if you want it to work at the word TEST somewhere on the screen in design mode.

:) It's not correct. I'm going to explain better (sorry)...

It's true that I want to preview a blank/Empty/plain form and I got the "cannot open the selected form."...but it's only the easiest example.
The error it's the same if the Form is empty or with any controls or any simple text...

So you are saying the preview function does not work at all regardless whether data is present or not.

This is not normal and suggests your version is corrupted somehow, are you running a Beta?  Best advice is to un-install Infopath 2007 and re-install it, see if that helps.

I have used the program for 2 months (I have downloaded infopath 2007 from MSDN), after a period of 20 days of unused I got the problem. During this period I have installed Visual Studio 2005 and SDK for Workflow. I thought that was the problem but the fanny thing is that I have the same problem in an other computer with no visual studio.

No problem with other computer and infopath 2003

What I have tryed on my computer is:

1) un-install and re-install infopath 2007 -> problem did not resolve
2) un-install all visual studio 2005 and related software (SDK) -> problem did not resolve
3) install on other computer -> same problem

Now I'm trying to install infopath 2007 on an enpty virtual machine vith windows XP patched.

I had this problem and are using VSTO together with the TFS after some hours of testing it looks like if you clean the cache on your machine it will work.

infopath /cache clearall
or delete directly files on your harddrive
