    Hi virmax,

Welcome to new world of InfoPath,

Apply the rules on the drop down list box for every element in the list,

If the drop down value is equal to this then set the related image to the image field.

     Do like this,

double click the drop down -> click rules -> Add -> Set condition.

leave the first drop down as it is and select "is equal to" in the second drop down and in the third drop down select "text" and enter the element value in the drop down of your field and click ok.

Now click "Add Action" button and select set a field's value. In the field's text box take the field that you want to show the picture and in the values text box take the picture that you want to show based on the element that you set in the set condition.

Like wise do for every element in the drop down. But better take those pictures that you want to show in one folder.

    Hope this will help you.

    Hi virmax,

Here's how I would do it:
    0. Add an image control to your form. When it asks if you want the image to be included in the form or simply linked, choose LINKED.
    1. Put all of your images in 1 folder, preferably accessible over the internet
    2. Fill your drop-down with name/value pairs. The values should be the filename of the image corresponding to the name. So, you will have something like "Logo 1" as the name, and "logo1.jpg" as the value.
    3. Add a rule to the drop-down, that SET's A FIELDS VALUE (which will be the image control, from step 0) to the value of concat( 'http://full/path/to/images/', )
    4. Test it out!

I just made a sample form that did all of this, and it didn't take too long. I have included it as an attachment.

    Thanks Matt

I will try to do as you suggested. I have stored all the image files in one folder (mainly .gif files). But its on the c: drive. Do i have to make a folder that is accessible over the internet ? its because i am working on a project in which i am supposed to design a report where the end user can change the logo of the report using the drop down list control !

I will try and implement what you said.

    Thanks again

    Hi Matt

I implemented your steps. I did it correctly. But somehow the images are not changing. When i preview the form the image control remains the same. Image doesnt change. I dont know why !! i even opened the attach form you had sent. The same happens there. When i preview it, the images dont change.

I am quite new at Infopath and a little bit lost.

Thanks a lot for your help though

    Hi Virat,

That is weird.  For a test run I would suggest that you do this:  Create a new blank form and drop an image control onto the view. When asked if you would like the image to be stored in the form or just linked, choose linked.  Next, open the data source task pane and right-click and drag the image filed that you just created into the view as a text box.  When you preview the form, you should be able to put the URL or filepath to an image and it will show up in the image control.  Try playing with the text box to point to different images and tell me what kind of results you get.  If it still doesn't work, then I don't know what to tell you.  Maybe it is a problem with the version of InfoPath you are running, or maybe you need to repair the installation. I'm not sure.
