Secondary Connection to Sql Server Failed on one users workstation....

    Hi,

Hopefully someone here can help me.   I am a newbie but I am making my way around infopath.  My most recent issue is with the Secondary data source.   We are on a XP OS and do not have sharepoint at this time.  The forms are not brower forms.   I am able to connect with no issue from my workstation.   We use windows authentication in connecting to sql server and the domain user names have been added to sql server with appropriate permissions set for the database.

The issue is, the users workstation generates the error access is denied when connecting to the secondary data source.  The secondary source is used for a drop down.   I had this user log in to my workstation and she had no problem connecting.   I logged on to her workstation and had to issue.  It seems to be an issue wiht her profile on her workstation, but have no clue where else to look etc.   She can connect to the main connection, but cannot connect to the secondary connection.   Please advise...

     Thanks!

Hey Kellyan, welcome to the wonderful world of InfoPathdev.com.

I have run into this issue before but obviously it could be a lot of things.

The first thing I would look into is how you are connecting to the sql server.  From her PC can she connect to the database via ODBC? Maybe try with Excel or something?  This is to make sure her setup is correct. Do you use roaming profiles or anything? Is the main connection a database connection as well?

Sounds like you have covered most of the other bases.

    Good Luck.

    Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me.   I set up an odbc connection, she connects to sql server with no issue.   I think the problem could have to do with the internet options settings.

We added the servers ip address, etc and this caused her to longer receive the verification to connect, so we removed it and she would get the message asker her to verify a safe connection then the secondary source would be available.

The issue is, she does not have to verify the main conneciton but only the secondary connections why is this.  The main connection is to the same sql server database using the same connection and table.

We will play around with more settings, but it is strange becaues from my pc i do not have to verify yes or no when initializing the form from my workstation. The only diff is that i have sql server client installed on my workstation and she does not, however users should not have to have the sql client.

Let me know if anyone has any other ideas...

    Thanks..

The issue has been resolved.   It had to do with internet option - security settings.

We had to enable authenication to a datasource.

    It worked after that!
