    Value Limitations

I have created an equipment inventory using Infopath 2003/Sharepoint which has several pre-populated drop-downs.  One of these drop-downs is a model list which pulls it's data from a Model repository which is also Infopath 2003/Sharepoint.  It seems that several of the models towards the end of the alphabet are not appearing in the drop-down.

My first assumpition is that Infopath has value limitations for drop-down list fields.  If this is correct, is there a work-around?

If not, The field queries another form library based on no criteria using the following Xpath -

    /dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/dfs:Equipment_Model/@Model

Technically, it should pully any and all data stored in that field on the form library.

I guess more specifically, is there a limit to the number of entries in a single drop-down list?

    Hi Chuck,

It may or may not the the limit for drop down. But i tried with above 58660 elements by taking an xml as connection. I hope your list will not exceed this number of values.

So there should be the filter on your query, based on that the list of values are populating in to the drop down. Once check the query.

    you mentioned the xpath

    /dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/dfs:Equipment_Model/@Model

here you are filtering the list by using Model attribute. Check whether the list of all values are comes under Model attribute.

    Hope this will help you.

Thanks, that really helped isolate the problem.

I confirmed that all of the values were under the Model attribute, but the Sharepoint View had an item limit of 100 per page.

For some reason, Sharepoint is only sending data from the first page.

As a work-around, I increased the number of items on the Sharepoint View higher than the number of items on the list (1000 items), and now it is correctly populating the drop-down list.

Since this will likely come up that I will need to design a form where this work-around is not acceptable, is there a better solution?
