Business Logic controls and external Schema

I am having difficulty in adding functionality to a form based on an external schema.  I need to add controls that are used to help workflow and proccessing of the form, but not add data to the xml document.

Is there a way to add controls just for form work flow?

     Thanks,

     Ren

    Hi Ren,

Thank you for your patience! I think what you want is secondary data sources. We have a bunch of solutions leveraging our database accelerator that use secondary data sources for workflow, history, tags, etc. - all meta data on the form. In general, we don't like to put "everything and the kitchen sink" in the main data source. It's a bad design practice. We wholeheartedly applaud you for your design consideration.

    Patrick,

Thank you for your response.  I have split the workflow from the main data source. This works fine for form level workflow, but I am having difficulty adding controls for functionality within a section.  For example, my main schema has a complex repeating section.  To make it easy for the the user, a subsection of the repeating section is prepopulated with default values.  I would like to conditionally hide this subsection and allow the user to expand it with an 'advanced options' checkbox.  The issue is, I can not add a checkbox within the repeating section without getting the 'this control can not repeat here' error.

Is there a way around this?

     Thank you,

Sorry to repost, but, I think this was lost in the weeds and I am at a sticking point. . .
