InfoPath Dev

I have the AD web service up and running. I want to analyze the current user to make sure they have approval authority. I have the Infopath form bound to a database, I don't want to save the value of the current user so I am trying an expression box(versus a bound text box) with the following xpath:

xdXDocument:GetDOM("GetMyInfofromAD")/dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/tns:GetMyInfoResponse/tns:GetMyInfoResult/tns:ADProp/tns:Value[../tns:Key = "sn"]

How do I analyze (syntax) the value in this box in the code-behind in vb.net?

or should I have it bound to a text box with a secondary schema?

This XPath looks right, are you sure that the Web Service is returning what you are expecting? To check this, drag-n-drop the repeating item onto the view and hit preview.

yes, Matt it is, my question is more about vb.net I guess, what is the syntax to get the value from the expression box.

Ah, sorry. You cannot retrieve values from an expression box. They are used for display purposes only. Your idea about the node on the secondary DOM sounds like a good idea.

Matt, thanks for the info. I've never retrieved a value from the secondary DOM in code either, do you have any sources of info,i.e. syntax for vb. As you can tell, I'm an old vb programmer stumbling my way through xml.
