    Hide controls when printing

How can I print a form without printing the Calendar and dropdown list controls?

Are they showing on the print preview? They don't show for my form.

Yes, they show in print preview as well as when I print.

Create a special view for printing and use expression boxes.

That's a good suggeswtion Patrick, but Microsoft really needs to fix this. It's not a problem in ACCESS. That program knows how to report information....why can't infopath.

The problem is that if you have a 15 view form like I'm running to do medical records, you need to make it a 30 view form to just get rid of the stupid little drop down arrows and calendar icons....painful.

Do you any info on what the new release of infopath will be like.

This could be a bug with InfoPath but I think it's more likely that there is some some confusion between "design a form" and "filling out a form"?

dlgross: when you say they print with print preview and when you print as well, is that when you are designing the form or actually using the form (filling it out as a user would)

Submit buttons, date picker controls don't show up when I actually fill out a form and print it out, but they DO show up and printout when I print preview and print from when actually designing a form.

If they are only showing up for you in design view then I would suggest that this is a designed feature of InfoPath to allow designers to print out forms and know what kind of control is there on the form.

Ted, thanks for the clarification. I was testing while in Design mode and not in User mode.

InfoPath does change the dropdowns and Date Pickers to text when printing so not to show the control in the printout. Of course, printing from the design mode will show more of what you see in the design mode to aid design review.
