    SmartCombo and 2007

    -Note- I edited this message to change the XML data to reflect a more complete example

    I'm using InfoPath 2007, which is the first version i have ever used. I'm trying to get the SmartCombo to work with 2007 and am having problems. I don't know if the issues is me or 2007. The sample XML file that I have is:

    <books>
    <book>
    <name>Paul Smith</name>
    <inits>PS</inits>
    </book>
    <book>
    <name>Peter Lang</name>
    <inits>PL</inits>
    </book>
    <book>
    <name>John Smith</name>
    <inits>JS</inits>
    </book>
    <book>
    <name>Chris Jenkin</name>
    <inits>CJ</inits>
    </book>
    <book>
    <name>Mark Johnson</name>
    <inits>MJ</inits>
    </book>
    <book>
    <name>Bob Peters</name>
    <inits>BP</inits>
    </book>
    <book>
    <name>Frank Hopkins</name>
    <inits>FH</inits>
    </book>
    <book>
    <name>Jack Reynolds</name>
    <inits>JR</inits>
    </book>
    </books>

    The name of the Data Connection is "Sample3". The Entries is listed as /books/book, the Value as 'init', and the Display Name as 'name'. But during preview nothing shows up. Using the same values and Data Connection for a standard combo appears to work.

    Am I using the control properly?

    Thanks.

    Hi Idlehands,
    Are you using our Smart Combo control or the new combo box in InfoPath 2007?

    Patrick,

    I'm trying to use the the QDabra smart-combo in 2007. My basic requirement is to have the auto-complete feature for the items in the combo list. For example, if I type in "AB" in the combo-box and there happens to be 400 entries in the combo, but only 1 that starts with "AB" such as "ABCDE", then I want that item to be highlighted or in focus or auto-completed.

    Thanks.

    Hi Idlehands
    You can achieve this by setting a rule on the combobox and a filter on the xml name node above as follows and set the field to combobox and value as follows.

    combobox = name[starts-with(., combobox)]

    Hi Hans,
    The Smart Combo already supports type ahead and that should work by default without the need for a special xpath filter. I will check with our test team and see if there is an issue when using secondary XML files.

    Hello Idlehands,

    Can you please mention which version of office 12 you are using?
    Do you have any name spaces in your xml file?
