    Password protect design view

Just a thought but despite 'protecting my forms' i can see how someone with good knowledge would be able to modify the design easily. Could Infopath have password protection to prevent any such occurances on the design mode.

    Many thanks

    Hi Adam,

    Welcome t the Forum.
You can check the "Enable Protection" checkbox in Tools / Form Options / General Tab. It will at least give anyone a warning message before they can change your design.
To my knowledge, you can't password protect the design.

    Franck

I know that is what i meant by 'protecting my forms'

I think pword protection for design mode would reassure me and other developers that some one could NOT mess about with my design at present it is liable for abuse.

    Cheers Adam

If you are publishing form to a shared location then you have permission set for that shared location. You can restrict users from writing to that location. If you do this, even if someone changes the design they cannot save to your design.
This is the case for any application not only to InfoPath application.

Probably you already know this but still wanted to remind you.

I do indeed know that but to avoid problems associated with publishing .xsn's onto IIS servers without WebDav and cross-domain stuff etc. I have got the paths UNC'ed but properties point to the URL. Should any user get access to the UNC then ticking protection is not enough at all.

I want a feature request made to pword protect the forms or setup security like in Access to prevent this kind of rubbish

    Re: Password protect design view

Even if he manage pemission inside sharepoint some time there is hidden password or secondry data connection to password if user can open design view that mean there is no security i dont know why microsoft didnt solve it there is password for word and in programming language you can create your own exe file i think there should be different save option if we publish on site it should automaticly send just form without any source code for user the same thing in filler it should be like this when you gana run form in filler you should save it in deffernt extention which will use only in filler i which this happen in next infopath version
