To start you will need to be looking at InfoPath 2007 and not 2003.

Re: using InfoPath to build ASP.net workflow applicati

hi, me and my team are currently developing an application for creating workflows, something similar to k2, however it is using windows workflow founadtion. the user is supposed to use infopath to design his forms containing information about his workflow. our application should be able to open infopath for him and edit the information in the forms to create the workflow accordangily... the problem is that i cant find any tutorials describing how to edit information in infopath forms through visual studio 2005!! if u have any plz send.. thanks alot:)

Hi Radwa and welcome to our forum!
FYI: I talked to the K2 guys last June and they showed me a demo of K2.NET that uses WWF. Not quite sure I understand your request. Are you trying to change the workflow info from within InfoPath or outside of InfoPath. If you are doing it outside (aka server side), I suggest using a PI in the InfoPath form to track it (this is what BizTalk does). You'll want to keep the workflow state separate from the form's data. If you are doing it internal to the form, you will want to install the InfoPath SDK. You may also keep a separate node for all forms that is in the main DOM and modified by XSL or whatever but watch out for validation issues.

I am a little late on this thread here but working with WWF long term may not be the best. It is a low level programming framework in which you can build code in visual format. It has no concept of human business workflow processing. You create loops, if then blocks, etc. You have to build everything from scratch.

I really see WWF being utilized but the ISV vendors like K2. K2 is building thier next generation product on WWF. WWF does not have the concept of a Destination User, Activity Slots, Escalations, Rules, nor does it have built in integration with ASP.net, InfoPath, BizTalk, SQL Server, CMS, etc.

Suggest you get it now if you want it because the cost will be going up. If you buy now, there are free upgrades, I can get you in contact with the right people.

I totally agree with you. WWF in SharePoint Designer is too limited. The stuff that K2 is crafting will be best.
