    InfoPath 2007 Edit Task

Some of our users can't use the "Edit Task" feature in the Infopath 2007 (customized form) as when they click on it no pop-up window appears for an approval. Others will receive a pop-up window for an approval without any issues. Not sure whether it is related to IE6, XPSP2 or Office InfoPath 2007. I found someone else having similar problem as mine but no solution yet

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Hello welcome to our forum! In the post from your link the person mentioned using the beta. Are you also using the Office 2007 beta? It could be a beta bug.

Hi Shiraz, thanks for your reply. No, we're not using Office 2007 beta version.  Most of the InfoPath 2007 users don't have this issue but only a few.  For some reason, "Edit This Task" pop-up window is not showing up for some users to approve and not sure what causing this issue.  They all have Office 2003 and InfoPath 2003 removed automatically during InfoPath 2007 installation.  Some of the users were upgraded from SP1 to XP SP2 and then installed InfoPath 2007.

Since it's working for some users but not others, you've probably already figured out that it's most likely a local machine config issue.

I'm trying to understand at exactly which point does the edit this task window not popup?

InfoPath can be picky on the local config. you may need to fully uninstall Office 2007 and Office 2003 on those non-working machiens then fully reinstall Office 2007 to see if you can get it working. Another option is to try a detect-and-repair on the Office 2007 installation.

    Re: InfoPath 2007 Edit Task

I did uninstalled both Office 2007, Office 2003 and cleaned the Registry installation path as well.  I reinstalled Office 2007, detect/repair of the Office 2007, recreated a user profile and repaired the OS still didn't solve the issue.  But if the user logon to another computer everything is fine and the only workaround is to rebuild their computer with fresh OS installation.  I don't want to rebuild all the computers that having this issue.  Hope there might be a simple registry key that i can modify it to enable the pop-up window to appear so that people can approve their forms.

Wow. I don't know what to say. At this point I think you'll have to contact Microsoft. Whenever we've encountered this types of esoteric installation issue we've had little luck actually solving the problem. I'm sorry to have this bad news. We get rather frustrated too.

One last thing you could try before doing the drastic is to do a registry compare between a working machine and a non-working machine. Also, do a file compare between the program files / office folders on working vs. non-working machines. That may help discover which bit is different that is causing the issue.  If you do find out, please share here with the rest of the community.

    Re: InfoPath 2007 Edit Task

Good News!.  We found the solution for this issue and microsoft was delighted with our findings.  The registry key that blocking the pop-up window is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}.  After removing this registry key, the pop-up window apprears in the eform for an approval.  Hope this will help the others.
