    Drop Down Refresh Issue

    Hi,

    I am pulling the data using secondary data sources (web services ) for drop downs. When I add new data , the new data is not reflecting in the drop downs. For example, there 5 projects in the drop down. I added new project and that project I am expecting in the drop down, but still showing 5 projects in the drop down. It is taking cached data, instead of calling the web service again for latest data. What is the best way of solving this problem?

    You help is really appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Amar

    Hi,

    What about:
    ADOAdapterObject oNameTable = (ADOAdapterObject) thisXDocument.DataAdapters["tblTest"];
    oNameTable.Query();
    To requery the secondary Data Source.

    Re: Drop Down Refresh Issue

    Hi,

    In this InfoPath application we are talking to database only through web services. I can't use ADO.NET directly. When I use Secondary Data Source (Web Service) directly, it is taking cached data for drop downs. After opening the InfoPath Form, whatever the new data I added, it is not reflecting in the drop downs, for this I need to close it and open once again. Client is not accepting this. When I used Repeating table or repeating sections, I forced to call web service using WebServiceAdapter.Query() in code behind. But for drop downs i don't have control to call this in code behind, it directly takes web service web method in InfoPath UI. Is there any way to call the query method or refresh the data on every call to web service web method.

    Your quick help is really appreciated.

    Regards,
    Amar

    Re: Drop Down Refresh Issue

    Hi Amar,

    Make sure that the option to call the Web Service on load is disabled. Go to data connections. Click on the Web service and go through the wizard until you find the checkbox (I think it is the last step in the wizard).

    You can bind a dropdown to a secondary data source but you will have to use some event (like a refresh button click) to requery it.

    I hope this helps,

    Re: Drop Down Refresh Issue

    Patrick,

    Thanks for your reply. When I unchecked the option in Data Connections, the drop down is not showing any value. When the view is loaded I have to load all the drop downs with latest data using web services. Instead of using refresh for each drop downs, is there any way I can directly pull the latest data from web services and bind to drop downs at one time i.e view load?

    Thanks a lot.

    Re: Drop Down Refresh Issue

    hm.. weird

    myConnection = XDocument.DataAdapters("Contacts");
    myConnnection.Query();

    works in JScript but not in VBScript.. O__o

    ..or... any ideas?

    edit: somehow it needs to be DataObjects("..")... however..
