    Creating a web service

    I have been trying to teach myself about web services

    I have read several articles on the MSDN website about creating a web service using vs2003, however i am using vs2005 and have not been able to try any of it

    Does anyone know where I can find basic info on web services and vs2005?

    Ok, I need help now.

    I have got the hang on using a sqlDataAdapter to create a DataSet with 1 table and a parameter to return one record

    I have also got the hang of using several sqlDataAdapter's to create a DataSet with related tables (nested) returning all records

    What I cannot work out how to do is to filter parent table by primary key (return one record) then have child tables return only related records

    Sorry if thats not very clear, I am teaching myself from scratch here ;)

    I have done this using the designer and wizards in vs2006, the only code i have had to type is

    [WebMethod]
    public DataSet workdammit(@inputID) {
    daSelectCommand.Parameters["@ID"].value = @inputID
    da.Fill(ds);
    return ds;}

    or

    [WebMethod]
    public DataSet workdammit() {
    daName.Fill(ds); //repeat for each related da
    return ds;}
