    SharePoint web service

    Hi,

    I have problem with web service (infopath data connection)http://portal/sites/site1/_vti_bin/lists.asmx , operation GetListItems. I don't know how to set parameters:
    s0:Listname and s0:ViewName.

    Thanks

    Listname can (depending on list type) be either the internal name of the list, or the GUID of the list.

    The later seems to work always so check the GUID by invoking the GetListCollection web service with a web service tool like webservice studio, SOAPscope or similar. You can also obtain the GUID by clicking "modify settings and columns" and checking the URL in the browser (same goes for views, just click the view you want to see).

    For the webmethod in question, you dont need to specify a view name, so leave that blank unless you got a special filtered view you want to query.

    I have the same problem. I enter only value to s0:Listname (I suplied the name of the list) and when I click "next" in the data connection wizard I got an error of "The root element is missing."
    What's the problem? What should I do?

    hey i did that at the first step but it goes the same
    i just added the string {blah blah blah} for the list name and i'm still getting this:

    The SOAP response indicates that an error occurred on the server:

    Exception of type Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException was thrown.
    <detail>
    <errorstring xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/">The root element is missing.</errorstring>
    </detail>

    to make sure about the name, i changed it a bit and this time it said that the list does not exist... it shows that the name is somehow correct but it doesn't work
    please help

    Try to execute this method with params like this:
    ...GetListItems("GUID of the list", null, null, ViewFields, null, null, null);
