    Hi Christiane,
    Can you give me some context? Where did you read about "restoring to global state"? What are you trying to do? Thanks!

    Re: How do you restore to global state???

    HI,

    I am trying to set a field value in my infopath form, but I can't I get the message, DOM is read-only.

    I was wondering how I could restore to not read-only.

    After a section is signed, I use the signature node to send email (that works fine) but I also want to change the status of the field to "Pending Approval". But I cant't!!!

    I don't want to put a rule on a button.

    Thanks for any reply.

    Hi Christiane,
    You'll want to move the field outside of the signed section. If the field is in the section and you sign it, you can't change it. That is the design. Otherwise, the signature wouldn't mean anything - if people could change it after signing. You could also set the form up to do counter sign which allows signatures on top of signatures. Good luck.

    Thanks for your Reply Patrick.

    But my status field is outside the signed section.

    But because signature node afterupdate event handler, DOM is read-only??

    I am now thinking of updating the sharepoint status field with SPListItem.

    Is that complicated?

    Can I do it in Jscript?

    Thanks.

    Hi again Christiane,
    No, it's easy to update. We do this too for several projects. Do you have the signature on the section or the entire DOM? Maybe you aren't using per-section signatures even though you mentioned that above. I'd check on that. You'll want to use the OnSubmit event handler to get the SPListItem after submitting and then modifying the form with that. After which, you'll need to submit again using code. Jscript shouldn't be too hard.

    Re: How do you restore to global state???

    Hi again,

    Here is my code Patrick:

    oXmlHttp.Open("DELETE", strUrl, false);
    oXmlHttp.Open("PUT", strUrl, false);

    oXmlHttp.Send(XDocument.DOM.xml);

    SPListItem["Status"] = "To be Approved";
    SPListItem.Update();

    Do I need to define any variables because it is not working :(
    The form is saved but without the Status.
    The status field from my SharePoint site stays empty...

    Thank you for any help.

    What is the function that the code is in? Is it OnAfterChange or OnSubmitRequest? I think the SPListItem dereference may be bad. Not sure about the syntax but ["Status] seems bad. And, the list items can't be set to strings since they are objects. Do you have the SharePoint SDK?

    If you'd like, we can spend a couple hours and fix this for you. Go to our store at the www.qdabra.com site and send us some money and the XSN and we'll work on it.
