Master/Detail link to outside XML document

I'm so close, but I can't get this to work. Here's the setup.

    1. One form has a table with 5 columns of client information.
    2. On Another form the main form), I want to select the client's name, and then pull from the table in the remote document the other four fields....master/detail, but across xml documents.

I can't seem to get a master in one table to pull from a detail in table in another form....I thought Info path would do this.

    Any help.

    Hi Larry Kropp,
    Welcome to the Board!
I guess if they are two different xmldocuments, one of it is secondary dataconnections. Master/Detail does not work with a secondary dataconnections, it works only with primary dataconnections.
You can do conditional visibily, but this will be performance hit if you have more data.
Or you can write some code to show the details.

Thanks for the reply Agni. I was beginning to suspect that was going to be the answer.

The help files do mention doing this exact same thing between an XML document and a database like MSACCESS. It seems that they should make it work with other XML documents as well.

There are ways to simulate Master Detail with a 2DS (Secondary Data Source) using OnContextChange event and using conditional visibility as Agni suggests. Either Greg has done this or it will pique his interest. I'll ask him.
