    Infopath 2007 - Form Advice

    Greetings all,

I am in the process of creating an Intranet for the Company i work for and need a little bit of help / advice. I have done some reading on this subject but there seem to be a few different options as to the best plan of attack.

We have a "Hazard Report" that i have imported from Word to an XML form. It has Feilds For Date of hazard, location of hazard, Hazard reported by, Department, title, immadiate action, long term control etc etc. The OHS manager wants the site managers to be able to report a hazard and have it automatically submit the data to a Site hazard register which will have the same "information headers" as the form, he then wants the Site Hazard Register to Report the Data back to a Central Register for All sites. Confused yet?

I had initially planned to make the Register in Excel as the layout of the Register only needs to be very simple.
He has since decided that he wants clients to be able to access the appropriate SITE register externally via Sharepoint sites dedicated to our clients for each individual site. (now your probably definately confused!)

So basically he wants it to work like this..

"Site A" Report Form > Submitted to "Site A" Hazard Register & "Site A" Client Register > Central Hazard Register.

Does the above make any sense?? Is it at all Possible??

(oh i am running Office 2007 and sharepoint 2003, We are not yet running Portal but we have purchased it)

ANy help would be much appreciated!

    Cam

You should be able to set up a single form with all the required fields in it for each step in the process.

Then you have some kind of a State field which identifies what state the form is in. (i.e new from field, etc).

Set up different (if necessary) submit data connections for each step, and then hide/show the various submit buttons based on the form state.

That way the field guy sees a single submit button which goes to the first submit location. The site managers see a different submit button which submits to their appropriate location, and so on.

Since the single form has all the required fields in it, you can set up different views for each user role. On load, you switch to the appropraite view based on the form state.

When you submit, you update the state to the next state.

    Make sense?
