Formatting form Library Columns with $

When I submit an InfoPath form to SharePoint, it doesn't carry over the $ sign in front. How do I add this to the columns, so that the columns can look more logical.

I have tried creating my own custom columns with the exact same name as data source on the form and when it submit to the form library, it does not submit inside the colums, it just shows a form up under the type column name. Any help would be appreciated

It would be good if I can get my InfoPath Form data to be submit into my preformated Library, which I created.

    Hello Michael,
One question that I have for you is – Do you want ‘$#%92 symbol for Promoted column names or file name or amount fields. If you want ‘$#%92 symbol for Promoted column name then you can change it by following the steps given below:
    1. Open InfoPath form in design mode
    2. Go to Tools -> Form options
    3. Click on Form library columns
    4. Click on Add select the field which you want to promote and in Column name field you can change the column name as you want

If you want ‘$#%92 symbol for file name then you can use concat function concat(“$”, field1) in file name field while taking submit data connection to share point site

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Michael,
Shailu is right. The only way to get the $ in the name is to promote a separate string field that basically takes the dollar amount and applies the formatting you want. Unfortunately, this is a limitation of SharePoint datatypes. Don't know if this is better in ShP 2007 or not, but worth a look.

There might also be a way to set formatting by editing the page in Frontpage.... sorry couldn't be more helpful.

I tried this, but I'm trying to figure out why it didn't work. It just puts a concat("$", MonthlyBudget) in my column heading. I would like for the $ to be on the left side of every monthly expense.

Is it possible to add $, %, to individual fields in ShP 2003, through InfoPath?

    Hi again,
Sounds like you took her first option when you wanted the second. Add a field to your form using InfoPath designer. Add a rule to the field that has the amount in the view. The rule should have no condition but an action that sets a fields value. Specify the new field and add a function that is the concat("$", MonthlyBudget) - personally, I think you're going to need to do more formatting, but that will atleast get you a $ in ShP. You'll have to promote the new field too and use that in your column (SharePoint view change), but that's straightforward. Good luck!

    Patrick,

I tried putting concat("$", MonthlyBudget) in a rule, but it did not work. It in fact gives me a error. Any other suggestions.
