    Sharepoint Submission

    Hi

I am trying to submit to a sharepoint library but keep getting this error: InfoPath cannot submit the form.
An error occurred while the form was being submitted.
A value in the form may be used to specify the file name.

The form has been published OK and opens OK but when I click on the submit button I receive the above error.

    What am I going wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

    Ali.

    Hi Ali,

You cannot submit a form to sharepoint with restricted security. You need to have "Automatically determine security level based on form design"(Domain Trust) or above (Full trust).
Can you check once your sharepoint library name and file name of the form.
Have you submitted any form to sharepoint library or this is the first form?
Can you give us more details what you have done for submit the form to sharepoint.

Hi Shiva, thanks for the reply.

Our sharepoint library name is called 'Our Forms' and our form is called 'form'. I am unsure about the restricted security you mentioned as I am new to Infopath. I have also tried coding the button and applying rules (data connection) to the button. I also tried 'tools' >> 'submitting forms'

    Thanks,
    Ali.

    Hi again!

How would I go about adding say a text field as the filename at the beginning of the form? This would be much better for the user to specify the filename. We are using this form (with five views) for future projects at our College. So we would possibly submit certain forms to different departments. I know that we can create folders etc and publish Infopath forms to these newly created folders.

I also forgot to mention that I have not submitted a for to our sharepoint area due to the error. I have also read about security issues so I understand now. What books would you recommend with using infofpath and integrating with Sharepoint??

    Thanks for any help,
    Ali.

    Hi Shiva,

Thanks for the link. I carried out the steps within the link very carefully, checked all persmissions and filters within sharepoint. My forms are saying they have been successfully submitted once I click on the submit button but when I go to my forms area (where I setup the form to be published and submitted within sharepoint) there are no forms at all.

Hope you can help and thanks again,
    Ali.

    Hi
Sorry but I fixed the submission to Sharepoint! It was the path name, my folder had a space so I inserted %20 for the space and it work. Many thanks for all your help.

    Hi again!

I have one last question (I think!) we are looking to have our forms read-only when submitted to sharepoint. I have read about certificates etc and our IT manager wishes us not to use them. Can I setup the roles as readers and would then in turn make our forms read-only? Or is there another easier way that I have overlooked again. sorry if it's a silly question!

    Many thanks,

    Ali.

    Hi Ali,

Actually you can just go to Tools -> Form Options ->checked the enable protection. So the user can only view the submit the form without further down on the code behind.

    Hope this help you up.

    Hi kssaw

Thanks for your reply but this method protects the form template not the submitted filled fields which is what I wish to have read-only.

    Thanks again,
    Ali.

    Hi Ali,
There is Checkout funtionality available in sharepoint you can checkout the form once it is submitted to sharepoint. This will make the form readonly for other users.
