Sharepoint won't create form from library template

This involves InfoPath 2003 and SharePoint 2003. I'm getting the following error when clicking the "Fill Out This Form" button in a SharePoint form library:

The form could not be created.
The required application may not be installed properly, or the template for this form library cannot be opened

    Please try the following:
    1. Check the General Settings for this form library for the name of the template, and install the application necessary for opening the template. If the application was set to install on first use, run the application and then try creating a new form again.

    2. If you have permission to modify this form library, go to General Settings for the library and configure a new template.

I have InfoPath on my machine, so it's not a problem of the application being available. I actually designed and then published the form template to the SharePoint site from within InfoPath.

When I go to the General Settings for the form library, the URL for the form template is correct (when I copy paste the URL into a browser, the form is downloaded and opens in InfoPath), so it shouldn't be a problem that the template can't be found.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? I'm pretty much out of ideas...

    Thanks!

Hi Ratoncito and welcome to our forum!
How did you publish the InfoPath form? Did you just copy the form to the SharePoint site or did you use the publish wizard from the InfoPath designer?

    I used the InfoPath wizard.

    Hi again,
My guess is that Office 2003 did not install all components on the client. In order to launch InfoPath forms on your Windows machine, Office installs a component called inlaunch.dll. My guess is that either a) that did not get registered correctly, or b) you are just missing it. Please go to Control Panel -> Add / Remove Programs, click on Office 2003 and try to repair the install. If that doesn't do the trick, please let us know and we can verify that your registry has the right class ids registered.

    Thanks Patrick,

I tried repairing the installation and republishing the form to a new library, but I'm still getting the same error. I did a quick Windows search for inlaunch.dll, and found it in 2 locations:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11

    Hi again,
My guess is that you have an Office 11 and Office 12 side-by-side installation problem. We have seen a few of these. Please try removing the Office 12 install and see if that fixes it.

Looks like you were right, InfoPath 2003 and 2007 Beta don't play nicely together :-)

    Thanks for all your help!
