    InfoPath read-only form

Is there a way I can dynamically make an InfoPath form read-only except for single button (or maybe just a section of the form read-only)? I want to press a button on the form that makes the form editable. I can do this field by field, but it would be easier to make the entire page or only a section display/read only.

    Thanks.

    Hello chipdavis

You can create 2 Identical views in the Infopath form and make one of them Readonly and Put a rule on the Button to switch to second(editable) view on Button Click.

I hope this will help you.

Thanks Kalyan. A couple more questions...

    1. How do I make the 2nd view read-only?

    2. Once the 2nd view is read-only, will the button still be active?

    3. If I have two views that are exactly the same, do I have to maintain both views if I make changes?

    Thanks again.

    Re: InfoPath read-only form

    Hello Chip,

1)You can make the View Read only by Checking the check box ReadOnly in the View properties. You can find View properties in the Task Pane
2)Yes the Button will be still active when the view is made Readonly. You need to put Rule on this button.
3)Yes you need to maintain both views for all the changes you make .

As you did not want to put Conditional Formatting on each field this is a way to make the view Readonly. See that you bind the fields in both views to the same datasource

I thik this will help you.

    Re: InfoPath read-only form

    Kalyan,

I can't seem to find the readonly button in the View properties. I am using InfoPath 2003 SP2. Here is what I see...

General: view name, set as default view, show on the view menu when filling out the form, background color, use a background picture, use a custom layout width for this form.

Text Settings: applay settings to, font, font size, font color

Print Settings: select an existing view..., orientation, headers and footers, copies, print range

Page Setup: printer, paper (size, source), margins

    Thanks,

    Chip

    Re: InfoPath read-only form

    Hello,

I am sorry for not mentioning that this is in Infopath 2007.
In Infopath 2003 you need to create a identical view and make every control readonly by selecting Read only in the Control Properties -> Display Tab-> Check Read only.

Sorry for the Confusion. I hope this will solve your Issue.
