I have a dream.... Infopath, sharepoint, AD

I'm the net admin for a 170ish user company.... we have a high rate of turnover and keeping up with new users, department moves is very tough.
I've messed with Infopath enough to create basic forms ( to make my life easier)..then submit to our programmers to clean up and add functionality to them....our programmers have just built a sharepoint site and in a few months will be purchasing Knowledge Lake....anyway, my idea...

Is it possible, or ever worth the time, to build an infopath new hire/user form that will reference a template user account in active directory to create user accounts? Form would place the user in the proper OU, mail enable the account...etc..etc..?

I cant see why this couldnt be done:
you could get your coders to hook up on the DirectorySearcher in managed code.

    Linkage:

MCC - I don't know if you are still looking for a solution to your problem, but I've used a software package in the past called IDEAS for AD - fromhttp://www.lucidyn.com - that gives you access to template forms for creating users (or any other AD object) through Sharepoint. I think they have a stand-alone version as well. It doesn't use InfoPath, but it does what you need it to do...
