    Not able find default text

Hi, We have an existing InfoPath form that was developed by a previous team member. This form generates a PDF when a button is clicked, containing the entered details. The button's 'Action' is specified in 'Rules and Custom Code.' While most of the text appearing in the PDF is sourced from the InfoPath form itself, the database, or the entered data, there is some default text that I'm unable to locate. I've checked various sections including the infopath form views, all the properties tab, Control properties, rules, custom code logic, data connections, database on servers, default text fields, but to no avail. Could you please assist me in locating where this default text is stored? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You might want to check the main data source - check if any fields have a default value set? I'm guessing there is code in the form that generates the PDF - do you have access to the source code? If not, can you attach the form in a reply under the options tab? If you do that I can give it a quick check.

Re: Not able find default text

Hi Hilary, Thanks for your update. The form we're reviewing is fragmented across our drive, as it was entirely developed and published by the previous employee and is currently live. Now, we need to implement a change and we had to collect all the required info to perform changes. But this hardcoded text alone seems to be no where. As suggested, I've checked all the fields in the main data source, but I'm still unable to locate the default text field. I neglected to mention that upon clicking the button, a series of rules are applied, with the initial ones setting the field parameters using 'set fields value', and the final one executing an 'Action' called 'Query for Data', which utilizes the 'Data Connection' named 'create_pdfs'. This data connection is SOAP-based of 'Type - Retrieve data' and appears to be fetching data from an Oracle server. Could you please provide any assistance with this? Thanks again. Thankyou.

Really hard to guess, I'm afraid. I'm guessing the fields being set are in the "create_pdfs" connection? So that data is sent to the Oracle server? I mean - it could be that data connection that does something - are there any rules after the query to that data connection?

There are no rules following that data connection. 'create_pdf' appears to be of type 'Retrieve Data'. Additionally, I'm unable to inspect the contents of the data connection. We only have access to the SOAP link containing the 'WSDL' file, which provides only the structure. I also attempted to view the data by clicking 'Modify', but to no avail. Could you please provide your suggestion? Thank you. I'm brand new to infopath so I'm not sure the way I'm working is correct too :)

I'm sorry I can't be more help without seeing the form. I really don't have any additional guesses. I'd suppose that the "create_pdf" service that was created on Oracle is handling this - but that is something I would guess is custom to your organization.
